Transportation to Mui Wo

1. Ferry

Taking a ferry from Central (Pier No.6) to Mui Wo, you can choose ordinary ferry services or fast ferry services. The total length of the ordinary ferry is around 50-55 minutes and for a fast ferry is around 35-40 minutes. Ordinary ferry services are provided with ordinary vessel type and deluxe vessel type, which is equipped with air-conditioning, while fast ferry services are equipped with air-conditioning throughout the ferry. 2. Bus

Also, you can take a ferry from Discovery Bay. The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes, and 35 minutes if pass through Ping Chau. On weekdays, the price is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Detail can checked on Peng Chau Kai To website.

You can take New Lantao Bus route 3M from Tung Chung to Mui Wo which takes about 43 minutes. The price is $11.4 when weekdays, and weekends it costs $17.8.

1. Silver Mine Bay Beach

When you arrive, you can walk to the right from the pier to Silver Mine Bay Beach. There are hotels, shops, barbecue grills, and shower facilities which are very convenient. Many people choose to rent water bikes, and canoes to engage in water activities here. The waves in Silver Mine Bay Beach are not large, which is suitable for novices to learn water activities.

2. Silver Mine Waterfalls

Silver Mine Waterfalls is a must-visit attraction. Walk along the seaside and follow the signboard to Wo Tin village. Then, walk along the trail which is to Tung Chung for about 10 minutes. After that, you will arrive the Silver Mine Waterfalls Park. The waterfall is divided into 2 parts, the upper and lower part. Although it is not majestic, you can still hear gurgling water.

3. Silver Mine Cave

After walking upward of Silver Mine Waterfalls for about 5 minutes, you will arrive at Silver Mine Cave. In the past, most of the villagers in Mui Wo were engaged in mining. So, the remains of the mines can be found in the cave. The cave is vanadium and contains a few silvers. The vestige cave is now left for visitors to visit. Although the mine has been closed, you can still see the view of Mui Wo Forest and the fields in front of the cave.

4. Man Mo Temple

The oldest Man Mo Temple in Hong Kong is in Mui Wo. In Pak Ngan Heung, you can find the Man Mo Temple, which has more than 400 years of history. There are paintings on both sides of the main entrance which is the story of Yao Shun and Yue Fei. Although the temple is small, it still completes in scale to dedicate to Emperor Wen Chang and Emperor Wu Guan Sheng.

5. Yuen’s Mansion

On the Tung Mui Ancient Trail, there are old Yuen houses, which have 100 years of history. Its owner was Yuen Wa Chiu, the anti-Japanese guerrilla commander of Kuomintang. The drum tower was built of granite by the Yuen family more than 80 years ago. There is a small fort in front of the door, as well as now rated as a Grade II historic building. However, now part of it has become a hotel staff resident, so cannot be visited inside.
